Interwikis

Hi, I would like to add interwikis to the articles without them but I don't know what they talk about. Could you please tell me the difference between Chipoka,Salima and Chipoka, or are they referring to the same thing? --Caro de Segeda (pakuchezgela) 10:34, 3 Julayi 2022 (UTC)[zgola]

How do you say "Regions and districts of Malawi" in Tumbuka? Caro de Segeda (pakuchezgela) 10:38, 3 Julayi 2022 (UTC)[zgola]
"Regions and districts of Malawi"?
Here:
"Regions and districts of Malawi" = Vigaŵa na maboma ghamu Malaŵi Tumbuka Arch (pakuchezgela) 10:46, 3 Julayi 2022 (UTC)[zgola]
Thanks for asking.
Chipoka,Salima is a township found in Salima District,Malawi,Southern Africa.
Where as Chipoka,Mzimba is another different place (township) found in the same country but in a different region and district.
I will try to put a disambiguation note so that it should not be confused with its twin township.
Was this clear?
Anything want to know?
Feel free.
And thank you for being a hero on this wiki (couldn't find a better word to describe what great you doing for this wiki). Tumbuka Arch (pakuchezgela) 10:44, 3 Julayi 2022 (UTC)[zgola]
How do you say:

  • Subdivisions of Malawi: Malawi is divided into 28 districts within three regions

I will create some templates to organise the information better. Caro de Segeda (pakuchezgela) 10:47, 3 Julayi 2022 (UTC)[zgola]
That will be great Caro!
Thanks.
Here is how we say them:
Regions and districts of Malawi = Vigaŵa na maboma ghamu Malaŵi
Subdivisions of Malawi: Malawi is divided into 28 districts within three regions = Vipatulo va Malaŵi: Malaŵi ngwakugaŵanika mu maboma 28 mu vigawa vitatu

Translations

Ok, now we have it organised: two categories: Category:Maboma ghamu Malaŵi for districts and Category:Vigaŵa vya Malaŵi for regions. How do you say:

  • Geography of Malawi
  • History of Malawi
  • Politics of Malawi
  • Society of Malawi

I have another question: for the word 'Geography' you provided the translation 'Vya chalo', but then you have created the article 'Nkhuzgo' which you also translate as 'Geography' so I would like to know which one is the most accurate translation.

Also, could you please translate this?

Hello Caro!
Yesterday i replied just a minute after you pasted the terms to be translated, but unfortunately, i was getting a general error when done translating and clicking on "REPLY" button. I tried several times but the problem persisted. The error i was getting was : "Error contacting the Parsoid/RESTBase server (HTTP 504)". Tried rebooting, clearing browser caches, cookies, switching to other browsers, etc, but couldn't help. However all sites were working well with no problem. So i guessed it was a server problem, not my side.
.
These were the translations below.
Here:
▪Geography of Malawi = Malati gha Malaŵi
▪History of Malawi = Mbili ya Malaŵi
▪Politics of Malawi = Vyandale vya Malaŵi
▪Society of Malawi = Chikhazi cha Malaŵi
▪The Northern Region is a region of Malawi. Its capital city is Mzuzu. = Chigaŵa cha Kumpoto ntchigawa cha Malaŵi.Msumba ukulu ni Mzuzu.
▪The Southern Region is a region of Malawi. Its capital city is Blantyre. = Chigaŵa cha Kummwela ntchigawa cha Malaŵi.Msumba ukulu ni Blantyre.
▪The Central is a region of Malawi. Its capital city is Lilongwe, which is also the national capital = Chigaŵa cha Pakati ntchigawa cha Malaŵi.Msumba ukulu ni Lilongwe, uwoso ni msumba ukulu wa chalo. Tumbuka Arch (pakuchezgela) 07:56, 4 Julayi 2022 (UTC)[zgola]

  • Maravi was a kingdom which straddled the current borders of Malawi, Mozambique, and Zambia, in the 16th century. The present-day name "Maláŵi" is said to derive from the Chewa word "malaŵí", which means "flames".
Some things I wanted to inform you about:
  • All regions of Malawi have a picture.
  • Most of the articles regarding the districts of Malawi are done and have their picture. There is an issue with some districts that don't have an article because there is an article with the same name about the city. I have decided to keep the name alone for the district and the city will have mzinda, for example: Blantyre for the district and Blantyre (mzinda) for the city.
I have also some questions:
  • What does "Mdauko wa chalo cha Malaŵi" mean? I think that article talks about the history of Malawi but I don't know.
  • For the word 'Geography' you provided the translation 'Vya chalo', but then you have created the article 'Nkhuzgo' which you also translate as 'Geography' and you have also given me the translation "Malati" for the same word so I would like to know which one is the most accurate translation or whether the three names mean exactly the same.
Also, I have started adding templates to countries. You will see I have created a simpler one than only includes the flag, the coat of arms and the map. I really don't have time to add more data to the template for now but with this one at least all countries will have some template. Caro de Segeda (pakuchezgela) 08:12, 4 Julayi 2022 (UTC)[zgola]
ABOUT OTHER WORDS AND OTHER TRANSLATIONS:
.
✔ Maravi was a kingdom which straddled the current borders of Malawi, Mozambique, and Zambia, in the 16th century. The present-day name "Maláŵi" is said to derive from the Chewa word "malaŵí", which means "flames". = Maravi ukaŵa ufumu uwo ukapanga malile na charu cha Malaŵi,Mozambique na Zambia, mu vyaka yama 1600.Zina la sono "Malaŵi" vikupulikikwa kuti likafumila mu mazgo gha Chichewa gha "Malaŵi" agho ghakung'anamula "Malaŵi gha moto".
.
Brantyre as a district is translated as "Boma la Brantyre"
Brantyre as a city is translated as "Msumba wa Brantyre"
So its good to write them : "Brantyre (Boma)" ,meaning Brantyre as a district.
And "Brantyre (msumba)" to mean "Brantyre City".
Not Brantyre (mzinda) because the word "mzinda" is not Tumbuka, but Chewa.
.
"Mdauko wa chalo cha Malaŵi" exactly talks about the history about Malawi from its humble beginnings to present. In English the title literally translates "The history of Malwi".
.
Geography alone translates "Nkhuzgo"
However when you say "Geography of Malawi" it translates differently as "Malati gha Malaŵi".
Don't expect "Nkhuzgo ya Malaŵi" :)
.
Thank you for everything Caro.
You are amazing! Tumbuka Arch (pakuchezgela) 08:49, 4 Julayi 2022 (UTC)[zgola]
If "Mzinda" is Chewa, we will need to change this category. Caro de Segeda (pakuchezgela) 08:53, 4 Julayi 2022 (UTC)[zgola]
Hey,
The word "Geography" in Tumbuka is translated in two words which have a same meaning as the other. But to avoid confusion "Nkhuzgo" should be selected as a default translated word for "Geography" ,even though "Vya Chalo" has the same meaning as "Nkhuzgo".

Great. I will paste texts for the Vital articles that every Wikipedia should have:
  • Gottfried Wilhelm (von) Leibniz (1 July 1646 – 14 November 1716) was a German polymath active as a mathematician, philosopher, scientist and diplomat. He is one of the most prominent figures in both the history of philosophy and the history of mathematics. He wrote works on philosophy, theology, ethics, politics, law, history and philology. Leibniz also made major contributions to physics and technology, and anticipated notions that surfaced much later in probability theory, biology, medicine, geology, psychology, linguistics and computer science. In addition, he contributed to the field of library science: while serving as overseer of the Wolfenbüttel library in Germany, he devised a cataloging system that would have served as a guide for many of Europe's largest libraries. Leibniz's contributions to this vast array of subjects were scattered in various learned journals, in tens of thousands of letters and in unpublished manuscripts. He wrote in several languages, primarily in Latin, French and German, but also in English, Italian and Dutch.
  • Sophocles (Ancient Greek: Σοφοκλῆς; c. 497/6 – winter 406/5 BC) is one of three ancient Greek tragedians whose plays have survived. His first plays were written later than, or contemporary with, those of Aeschylus; and earlier than, or contemporary with, those of Euripides. Sophocles wrote over 120 plays, but only seven have survived in a complete form: Ajax, Antigone, Women of Trachis, Oedipus Rex, Electra, Philoctetes and Oedipus at Colonus.
  • Disambiguation page
  • History is the study and the documentation of the past. Events before the invention of writing systems are considered prehistory.
  • Civilization: A civilization is any complex society characterized by the development of a political state, social stratification, urbanization, and symbolic systems of communication beyond natural spoken language (namely, a writing system).
  • History of Africa: The history of Africa begins with the emergence of hominids, archaic humans and - around 300–250,000 years ago—anatomically modern humans (Homo sapiens), in East Africa, and continues unbroken into the present as a patchwork of diverse and politically developing nation states. The earliest known recorded history arose in Ancient Egypt, and later in Nubia, the Sahel, the Maghreb and the Horn of Africa.
  • Economy: Malawi is among the world's least developed countries. Around 85% of the population lives in rural areas. The economy is based on agriculture, and more than one-third of GDP and 90% of export revenues come from this. In the past, the economy has been dependent on substantial economic aid from the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund (IMF), and other countries. Malawi was ranked the 119th safest investment destination in the world in the March 2011 Euromoney Country Risk rankings.
  • Agriculture and industry: The economy of Malawi is predominantly agricultural. Over 80% of the population is engaged in subsistence farming, even though agriculture only contributed to 27% of GDP in 2013. The services sector accounts for more than half of GDP (54%), compared to 11% for manufacturing and 8% for other industries, including natural uranium mining. Malawi invests more in agriculture (as a share of GDP) than any other African country: 28% of GDP.
  • Infrastructure: As of 2012, Malawi has 31 airports, seven with paved runways (two international airports) and 24 with unpaved runways. As of 2008, the country has 797 kilometres of railways, all narrow-gauge, and, as of 2003, 24,866 kilometres of roadways in various conditions, 6,956 kilometres paved and 8,495 kilometres unpaved. Malawi also has 700 kilometres of waterways on Lake Malawi and along the Shire River.
  • Science and technology
  • Research trends: Malawi devoted 1.06% of GDP to research and development in 2010, according to a survey by the Department of Science and Technology, one of the highest ratios in Africa. This corresponds to $7.8 per researcher (in current purchasing parity dollars).
  • Demographics: Malawi has a population of over 18 million, with a growth rate of 3.32%, according to 2018 estimates. The population is forecast to grow to over 45 million people by 2050, nearly tripling the estimated 16 million in 2010. Malawi's estimated 2016 population is, based on most recent estimates, 18,091,575.
  • Ethnic groups: Malawi's population is made up of the Chewa, Tumbuka, Yao, Lomwe, Sena, Tonga, Ngoni, and Ngonde native ethnic groups, as well as populations of Chinese and Europeans.
  • Languages: The official language is English.[115] Major languages include Chichewa, a language spoken by over 57% of the population, Chinyanja (12.8%), Chiyao (10.1%), and Chitumbuka (9.5%). Other native languages are Malawian Lomwe, spoken by around 250,000 in the southeast of the country; Kokola, spoken by around 200,000 people also in the southeast; Lambya, spoken by around 45,000 in the northwestern tip; Ndali, spoken by around 70,000; Nyakyusa-Ngonde, spoken by around 300,000 in northern Malawi; Malawian Sena, spoken by around 270,000 in southern Malawi; and Tonga, spoken by around 170,000 in the north. All students in public elementary school receive instruction in Chichewa, which is described as the unofficial national language of Malawi. Students in private elementary schools, however, receive instruction in English if they follow the American or British curriculum.
  • Religion: Malawi is a majority Christian country, with a significant Muslim minority. Government surveys indicate that 87% of the country is Christian, with a minority 11.6% Islamic population. The largest Christian groups in Malawi are the Roman Catholic Church, of which 19% of Malawians are adherents, and the Church of Central Africa Presbyterian (CCAP) to which 18% belong. The CCAP is the largest Protestant denomination in Malawi with 1.3 million members. There are smaller Presbyterian denominations like the Reformed Presbyterian Church of Malawi and the Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Malawi. There are also smaller numbers of Anglicans, Baptists, evangelicals, Seventh-day Adventists, and the Lutherans.
  • Health: Malawi has central hospitals, regional and private facilities. • Education: In 1994, free primary education for all Malawian children was established by the government, and primary education has been compulsory since the passage of the Revised Education Act in 2012. As a result, attendance rates for all children have improved, with enrollment rates for primary schools up from 58% in 1992 to 75% in 2007. Also, the percentage of students who begin standard one and complete standard five has increased from 64% in 1992 to 86% in 2006. According to the World Bank, it shows that youth literacy had also increased from 68% in 2000 to 75% in 2015. This increase is primarily attributed to improved learning materials in schools, better infrastructure and feeding programs that have been implemented throughout the school system.[84] However, attendance in the secondary school falls to approximately 25%, with attendance rates being slightly higher for males.[135][136] Dropout rates are higher for girls than boys, attributed to security problems during long walks to school, as girls face a higher prevalence of gender-based violence. ARTICLE REVIEW
Thanks will translate them all later, and keep pasting when there are more.
And the other thing on this wiki that i discovered is that some several articles are in incorrect Tumbuka, and erroneously written.Erroneously written articles gives errored information to the readers as they believe what they read.
I know its something to do with new editors, and with time they will learn to be a pro.
Is it possible to review these articles before they stay on Wikipedia?
For example on English Wikipedia if you write an article about yourself(which is not advisable),other figures that are not important, etc, without adding references, citing, links, etc., the article gets nominated for deletion.
Its important to have articles sourced, cited, linked, etc as it gives a reader courage to keep on reading and that what they reading is true, correct and liable. Also an article that is not sourced doesn't mean it shouldn't be on Wikipedia, but in this case its about what it is about. Tumbuka Arch (pakuchezgela) 10:17, 4 Julayi 2022 (UTC)[zgola]
I have created a template to mark those articles that are incorreclty written so whenever you find a new one, you can leave the template and come back to it when you have time. Unfortunately, I don't speak the language so I cannot do anything else: it will be you revising the articles. The template is this: {{Revision}}
I suggest not to compare this wiki to the English one as there is literally one person writing here instead of the thousands that write there everyday. I believe that for the Tumbuka Wikipedia it would be good to have two types of articles: the Vital ones and everything related to Malawi. I really don't care about the references because, as I said, it is only you the one that can do that and that will take you a lot of time from translating and creating articles which is what this Wikipedia needs right now. Caro de Segeda (pakuchezgela) 10:27, 4 Julayi 2022 (UTC)[zgola]
Understood and thanks.
I will be putting that template when the article needs some corrections.
In meantime,i am translating the above and when done will paste them here. Tumbuka Arch (pakuchezgela) 10:44, 4 Julayi 2022 (UTC)[zgola]
Hi, with the translations I suggest you that if you translate one article, add it, and then the next. You don't need to add everything together. In that way I can be creating articles little by little. If you translate this
Date of birth
Place of birth
Date of death
Place of death
Profession
Name
Image
I can create a template in the meantime. Caro de Segeda (pakuchezgela) 05:40, 5 Julayi 2022 (UTC)[zgola]
Also, there are two categories:
  • Category:Chigaŵa cha Kummwela
  • Category:Chigawa cha Kummwela
Which one is the correct one? Caro de Segeda (pakuchezgela) 05:49, 5 Julayi 2022 (UTC)[zgola]
Also, what does this mean?

Place of birth = Malo ghakubabikila
Date of death = Siku lakufwila
Place of death = Malo ghakufwila
Profession = Ntchito

About categories, "Chigaŵa cha Kummwela" is correct while "Chigawa cha Kummwela" sounds not necessarily correct. This is due to absence of special characters on the English keyboard as Tumbuka is missing a typing keyboard of its own.The typing keyboard needed is the one with all characters as English, with only one special letter added and this is letter "Ẇ"/ " ŵ".
You know most languages have their own typing keyboard, such as Spanish,French,Portugues, etc.where special characters are included.
.
I was thinking of developing a keyboard app using "Android Studio" and other related apps but i haven't figured yet when to do that. Also i am not sure whether i will succeed or not as explained here.
.

Mndandanda wa malo mu charu cha Malaŵi = List of places found in Malaŵi
Mndandanda wa malo =List of places

Another thing, can we translate the Wikipedia logo? The Wikipedia Logo that reads "Wikipedia" in Tumbuka it reads "Wikipediya" and the motto "The Free Encyclopedia" translates "Nkhokwe Ya Vinjelu Yaulele".
.
Thank you. Tumbuka Arch (pakuchezgela) 07:35, 5 Julayi 2022 (UTC)[zgola]
You can find those special characters in the box above the writing space on Wikipedia. Just select "Special characters" on top, then Latin on the left and go down until the character you need.
Regarding the logo, I don't know how to do that. I am sorry I cannot help.
I have created a template that is being used here. Caro de Segeda (pakuchezgela) 08:09, 5 Julayi 2022 (UTC)[zgola]
I know about the characters on top when writting here on Wikipedia and are the ones i am using as i am making translations. But i meant when writing in other places than Wikipedia, where no special characters are provided as Wikipedia does.
Thanks for the template Caro! Tumbuka Arch (pakuchezgela) 08:19, 5 Julayi 2022 (UTC)[zgola]
