HELP
[kulemba source]@Quesotiotyo Thanks for connecting items to wikidata from here on tumwiki.
May you please teach or advise me how to batch connect other items? I have thousands of unconnected items here about cities and villages, etc.
Is there any tutorial available? Some of the items I would like to connect in batch are: cities of Portugal, Albania, Andorra,Belgium, etc. Tumbuka Arch★★★ 06:03, 1 Julayi 2023 (UTC)
- @Tumbuka Arch Hello! Monile!
- You are very welcome, I am glad to be able to help your work here on tumwiki connecting articles to Wikidata. There are a few tools that can aid in doing this:
- I used all four of these yesterday in various ways. Duplicity is best for matching by hand, through either particular categories or random articles. The Linked items tool would be helpful where you have an article with many links that is similar to one from another language Wikipedia, such as Mndandanda_wa_misumba_na_matauni_ghachoko_ghamu_Germany and en:List_of_cities_and_towns_in_Germany (this method works best with proper nouns such as placenames, which are not usually translated). With PetScan you can enter a list of article names next to "Manual list" on the "Other sources" tab and select the "Add items, where available" option on the "Wikidata" tab to see which pages are linked to Wikidata and which ones are not. QuickStatements will allow you to add many sitelinks to Wikidata at once when you have a list of articles and corresponding QIDs (instructions for that are here).
- You might have to play around with these tools some to figure out the best ways to use them. For me it often depends on what exactly I am working on; each case is a bit different. If you need help with a particular task then you can ask me here and I will explain how I would approach it (not always the easiest thing to do through text but I will give it a try :) ).
- Good wishes,

- @Quesotiotyo Thank you so much! I am going to try it right away, and if I encounter any problem (lost), I will let you know.
- Thank you so much for the directions.
- I also would like to congratulate you for the awesome work you are doing on Wikidata. With edits over 6 million, it is evident that a remarkable job has been done.
- Thank you,
- All the best.
