Template:PII
Usage
[kulemba source]This template frames Publisher Item Identifier (PII) codes for usage inside the |id=
parameter in the various {{citation}} and {{cite xxx}} templates, or elsewhere. At present it just allows the PII code to be given in some documented way and links to the Publisher Item Identifier article in order to provide some explanation. However, it thereby helps to frame the code in some machine readable form and to standardize the appearance.
Alternatively, if the |check=
(1 digit) and |id=
(5 digits) or |mr=
codes (7 digits from MR) are known, the PII code can be constructed from ISSN (8 digits) or ISBN (10 digits) as well.
The template could be expanded to make the given code available as meta-data, or to provide some error checking or to create DOI codes from PII codes.
