== Usage ==
To signal that freshly updated material from a particular article is featured and bolded in the [[Template:In the news|ITN column]] on the [[Main Page]], for example, on {{CURRENTDAY}} {{CURRENTMONTHNAME}} {{CURRENTYEAR}}, copy and paste the following onto the article's talk page:

{{tlx|ITN talk|2=date={{CURRENTDAY}} {{CURRENTMONTHNAME}} {{CURRENTYEAR}}}}

This will display the following:
{{ITN talk|date={{CURRENTDAY}} {{CURRENTMONTHNAME}} {{CURRENTYEAR}}}}

This will show the date the article appeared on the ITN column and add it to [[:Category:Wikipedia In the news articles]], a listing of all the articles that appeared in the column.

*To include a link to the daily [[Portal:Current events]] page for that date, add the parameter 'alt', as in {{tlx|ITN talk|2=date={{CURRENTDAY}} {{CURRENTMONTHNAME}} {{CURRENTYEAR}}|3=alt=yes}}. Note that in some cases the portal may have mentioned the news item on a different date, or may not have mentioned it at all.
*To include a link to a relevant [[Help:oldid|oldid]] of the [[Template:In the news]] template itself, add the parameter 'oldid', for example {{tlx|ITN talk|2=date={{CURRENTDAY}} {{CURRENTMONTHNAME}} {{CURRENTYEAR}}|3=oldid1=497003009}}.

===Multiple dates===
The template will accept up to five different dates, using {{para|date''n''}}, {{para|oldid''n''}} or {{para|alt''n''}}, where ''n'' is a whole number between 1 and 5. Alternatively use {{para|alt|yes}} without a number to link all dates to [[Portal:Current events]]. For example,
